Historical Trivia
The course was designed and tested using Y trees as targets during the 1990s by Fred Chittenden. It took at least one year to develop the layout and additional time to adjust the tee locations for both the white and blue tees.
It was test played by Dr Fred as Y trees for a couple years while the approval process for the course took place.
Catherine Creek Park, where the course is located, is actually school property that was agreed by the School District to be under City supervision as a park.
There is a joint use agreement for how the local club manages the course that was transferred to the group from the Downtown Lake Stevens Association. If you wish to see a copy, email drfredc@drfredc.com for a copy.
Many of the original Y trees are still around. Some are gone...
Originally, it was thought that Hole 12 might be lost by modifications at the School. Hence, the course was orginally designed with 19 holes, in case hole 12 was lost. However, the hole was moved to it's current location (2006?). So the course remains with 19 holes...
There also is a par 4 layout (par 72). However, the course has become so popular that it is not suggested for this layout to be used unless the course is delegated to this layout for an event.
There is a practice putting Chain Hole at the Lake Stevens Dental Clinic's front lawn -- 2012 Grade Road, Lake Stevens, a couple blocks west of the course. Feel free to use it, assuming you clean up after yourself.
The Lake Stevens Brewery is at the lower parking lot of the Clinic that one can satisfy adult beverage desiress during practice.
